Getting Ready to Publish!

May 04, 2020 by Colette Alaine
Quarantine agrees with me because I have more time to focus on my writing. I thought I would take you along on the last part of my journey of releasing "Leveling Lawyers." It's been written and edited by myself about five times before I sent it to my editor, who did a fabulous job of cleaning up mistakes I never saw! I reread it once more before I made her edits, just to refamiliarize myself with the entire story. Afterwards, I made her edits, all but one of them. My next move is to reread the entire manuscript at least twice more. It is probably ready now, but I'm a perfectionist when it comes to avoiding mistakes and making certain I release my best work.

But, right now I am taking a short break from the first reread because I am writing a new novel and I am half-way through writing it. It is driving me to write it and I'm very much in sync with it so I am going to continue to write until I feel comfortable taking a break. Rereading "Leveling Lawyers" at this point does not take much time after so much editing has been done. In fact, I could probably sit down and read it in one day, which may be the best thing for me to do. My hands really start to hurt after typing too much because I suffer from severe carpal tunnel syndrome, especially in my left hand. When I cannot type, I read. I can only type a few days in a row and that is only if I don't type too long. If I have a long session, I'm away from the computer for at least two days where I'm wearing my braces non-stop. I rarely work on my novels on Saturday and Sunday because my hands just have to rest.

Anyway, that is where I am on the novels at this time. I will continue to update my blog with my progress. I am planning to release "Leveling Lawyers" at the very end of May or beginning of June. I said it would be a late Spring release and I should be able to accomplish it. The cover is completed; the type is set and the writing should be very clean at this point. Come back soon to see what's happening in my world!

Cheers, Colette
